Appropriate eye and personal protective equipment must be worn. Machines have moving parts that may cause entanglement. All loose clothing, jewelry and long hair must be secured.

1. Students must have permission to use a machine before operating.
2. Safety glasses must be worn when working on any of the power machines. 3. No rings, bracelets or any other jewelry that may hinder safe operation of equipment is to be worn in the shop. 4. Only one person at a time is to be in the safety zone when a machine is in use. Do not talk to or distract the machine operator. Put the safety stop on the machine after you are finished using it. 5. No loose clothing is to be worn in the shop. Long hair is to be tied back so that it does not interfere with the safe operation of the equipment. 6. All injuries, no matter the severity, are to be reported to the instructor in charge at the time of the accident. 7. Any student using a machine must be properly instructed in the safe operation of that particular piece of equipment. 8. Students are not to use any of the machines or equipment when the instructor is not present. 9. In the event of a fire or fire drill, all power is to be shut off and students are to proceed through the designated exit route. 10. All guards and safety features on equipment should be left on and used, unless instructed otherwise by your instructor. 11. Each machine in the woodshop can be used to perform many different operations. Students must have instruction on the particular operation they are doing, prior to beginning. 12. Hand tools are to be used for their designated purpose only. 13. Power source must be off, and the tool unplugged, prior to making any adjustments on a machine or power tool. 14. No horseplay, yelling, running, throwing objects, etc., in the shop. 15. Place all oily rages in the fireproof cans. 16. Make all adjustments and removal of material from the machine after it has come to a complete stop. |
